DODDS, JANET R
[br][br]Janet passed peacefully away on March 13, 2014. She was born in Spokane on September 14, 1922 to Rex and Margaret Raymond. A lifelong Spokane resident, Janet grew up at various locations on the South Hill with her brother Warren and their dog Bugs.
Janet graduated Whitman College and was a member of the Tri-Delta sorority. The friendships she made there lasted the rest of her life. Shortly after college, she began dating Albert Dodds. One evening, she decided it was time to inform him that he was going to be her husband. Always a sensible man, he agreed. Their marriage was good and lasted until his death in 2005.
Janet loved reading, gardening and the family's Pend O'Reille Lake place. She enjoyed music and good movies too. This occasionally caused mild consternation in the Dodds household. Her idea of a good movie was "Fiddler on the Roof." Her husband's taste leaned more to "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" and B-grade science fiction. Their offspring benefited accordingly.
Janet was a decent cook—with the occasional exception. Her Carrot-Raisin salad was a horror for her children. It could not be slyly tucked under the plate or in the lap, which is how her lima beans were "eaten." So it had to be consumed or "no dessert for you." But when the dessert was her Chocolate Cookie Stack, it was well worth it.
She was a voracious Bridge player. A lifelong passion, she continued to play well into her 80s. Her favorite foursome was her husband and her brother- and sister-in-law, George and Carol Dodds. They would play for hours (right through the irritating distraction of their six children wondering loudly when dinner was). With the other three already occupying a four-person niche in the Columbarium at St. Stephen's Episcopal, Janet is the last bridge partner to join them. The foursome is complete. A deck of cards will go in with her. And the game will go on.
She is survived by her son James (Robin), daughter Julie and son Joel (Julie); nine grandchildren and a growing passel of great-grandchildren.
Her memorial will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.
English teacher, librarian, homemaker, mother and beloved wife, Janet will be greatly missed. Contributions may be made to St. Stephens Episcopal Church or The Humane Society.

SAMPSON, DONNA M
Donna M Sampson Age 76 of Spokane, Wa. entered into rest Mar. 3, 2014. at her home with her son and other loved ones by her side. Donna was born Feb. 20, 1938 to Donald and Margaret Moore. She is preceded in death by her sister Gail Mattern , brothers Ronald and Terrence Moore. Survived by her son Donald Foss , siblings Peggy Orth, Denis Moore , Carolee Smith , sister-in-laws Margaret and Norma Moore. Seven grandchildren and Seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and dear friend and caregiver Judy Yukki. Donna was a member of the Eagles Lodge #2 auxiliary drill team and travel club. She enjoyed ceramics, pool, bingo and playing games with her friends at Cathedral Plaza were she resided the last 13 years. She was a foster grandparent through Catholic Charities, which she enjoyed very much, and an active member of Our Lady Of Lourdes Cathedral. Donnas unconditional love, strength and courage will forever shine in the lives of those who new her. Memorial service will be held at Lady of Lourdes Cathedral, 1115 W Riverside Ave at 12:00 PM, March 22, 2014 presided by Father Connell, burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery 7200 N Wall St. In lieu of flowers family asks for donations to be made to their favorite charity.
Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom his love commits me here, ever this day be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.

GARD, RICHARD B
[br][br]Richard Bruce Gard was born the second child of Roy and Ruth Gard on April 2, 1941 in Goodland, Kansas. He graduated from Goodland High School in 1959 and from Fort Hays State University in 1965. Richard and Barbara were married in 1962. Together they had four children; Carla, Connie, Christine, and Bruce. Richard spent most of his career working in the agricultural banking field. He was proud of years of his service to the Production Credit Association and Farm Credit Banks. He spent much of his life working with cattle and horses. He was a dog lover and enjoyed bird hunting. His Christian faith was very important to him. He was devoted to his family and generous to those in need. Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Barbara, and by his daughter Christine Fleury, and his parents. He is survived by his children; Carla Squires, Connie Clark, and Bruce Gard and their spouses Stuart Squires, Dan Clark, and Kandace Gard, and grandchildren Meagan, Joshua, Jesse, Sarah, Gavin, and Austin. He is also survived by his sister Carolyn Waldschmidt and his brother Ron Gard. No service is planned at this time.

Five years have passed since our Jason left us for Heaven on March 19th. We, his family and friends, miss him more than words can express; he brought so much fun and joy to our lives in the short 30 years he was with us. Jason had a special charisma about him, and could light up a room simply by being there. He was handsome, clever and loving. He took great pleasure in teasing his family, friends and co-workers, and could get a smile out of anyone just by giving them one of his signature "looks." Little Hailey Rose, his 5-year-old daughter is like him in so many ways, and Jason's amazing spirit can be seen shining through her eyes. Always loved, never forgotten, we carry our Jason forever in our hearts.

BROWN, ALLAN 58 YEARS YOUNG
[br][br]Cancer devastated him but Allan was laughing and joking to the end. He drilled water wells in the Deer Park area for over 20 years and worked for several local ranchers. His grandparents proceeded him. Left behind are parents, Bud & Anita Brown, sister Becky, brother Richard, many cousins, aunts, uncles, his beloved nieces and nephews & Deni who he married 37 years ago. A celebration of his life will be Saturday 03/22/14 at Prime Thyme Bar in Chattaroy.

KREHBIEL, ULRIC A.
[br][br]Ulric Krehbiel, age 98 passed away peacefully in Bellevue, WA. He was born in Lind, WA and graduated from Lind High School. Soon after he met and married the love of his life, Beth Krehbiel and served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He loved the land and spent his working career as a farm implement dealer in Lind and then later as an irrigated farm owner in Warden, WA. He is survived by his son Dan Krehbiel, daughter Gretchen Rillos, and grandson, Nicholas Krehbiel. Dad, we hope that you are with your beloved wife, Beth, your dogs, Yasha, Lassie & Happy and are enjoying turning beautiful wood art on your lathe!
Two services will be held:
- March 28, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Monica Catholic Church, 4311 88th Ave SE, Mercer Island WA.
- April 25, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Menno Mennonite Church, 1378 N Damon Rd, Ritzville, WA for a grave side service for both our Mother and Father.

OTTERSEN, RILEY L
[br][br]Riley Leif Ottersen was born April 3, 1979 in Billings, MT and passed away March 17th, 2014.
Riley was born wise, observant, and caring, and stayed that way throughout his life. Riley had a heart of Gold, was always kind, non-judgmental and helpful to anyone in need.
Riley was a Union Journeyman Carpenter working in Montana, Alaska, and Washington State. He also was the proud owner of two small businesses.
Riley enjoyed traveling, all sports, fishing, camping and life itself. Gambling and Drag Racing (with several first place trophies) were his side hobbies.
The most important thing in his life was his son, Drew, with whom he loved so much. He loved his family 1st and foremost and would do anything for them. Riley leaves behind his brother Guy, sister Crystal, and son Drew, all whom he adored. He also leaves behind his father and mother Bunch and Kaia Ottersen, Grandmother Jackie Reilly Hoff, special friend Alisha, many good friends, several nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. We are very proud he was a big part of our family, and always will be.
Riley's favorite quote: "It doesn't matter how hard you hit; it matters how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward." This is a quote his son stated helps make him a stronger person. Drew also says, "He couldn't have asked for a better father. He will always be a big part of my heart."
We love you son, brother, dad, friend and look forward to seeing you again on the other side. Until then, rest in peace our friend. Your loving family, always.
Our family would like to thank everyone at Harbor View Medical Center, for their experienced professionalism, true caring and understanding for our son. In lieu of flowers, donations to Harborview Medical Center will be appreciated. God bless you son. Rest in peace.

[br][br]A Brave & Courageous fighter lost her 4 year battle to ovarian cancer. She passed away March 13th, 2014 at Spokane Hospice. January 21st, 1960 she was born to Francis Boardman & Donna Mink, & raised in the Spokane area. April 13th, 1979 Sandy married Terry Kelley in Elk, Wa. There Terry built their home and they raised their 2 children; Robert & Erick. Sandy was a longtime resident & active member of the Elk community. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, cooking, canning & reading. She is survived by Terry, Robert & wife Christy, Erick & wife Ashley, grandkids;Kaleb, Brayden, Logan, Avery, Kylee, Autumn & several more family & friends. Sandy was a loving compassionate person who will be missed by all who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2PM Saturday, March 29th, 2014 at Country Church of the Open Bible in Elk,WA. Then a gathering will be held at the Elk VFW.
